Whistler Activities for the
Non-skier
In addition to investigating the Whistler real
estate market, the person who does not ski downhill
or snowboard has a lot to do in Whistler. Many
activities compete for your attention in the
winter skiing season:
|
- Cross-country skiing on more than 28 kilometres
of track-set trails adjacent to the Village
and Blackcomb Benchlands and through the valley.
The trails encircle Lost Lake and make use
of the Chateau Whistler and Nicklaus North
golf courses.
- Walking around Whistler on the extensive
Valley Trail system.
- Guided winter fishing trips.
- Fitness centres.
- Sightseeing from the air - fixed wing aircraft
and helicopters.
- Ice skating in the Meadow Park Sports Centre.
- Massage therapy and spas.
|

|
 |
- Mountain sightseeing - foot passengers are
welcome on both mountains.
- Racket sports.
- Horse and dog sleigh rides.
- Horseback riding.
- Snowmobiling.
- Snow shoeing.
- Theatre and concert performances by visiting
groups.
- Gourmet dining.
- Elegant boutiques.
|
|
In the summer, the number of non-skiing activities
expands:
|
- Golf on four designer courses. Whistler
Golf Club (designed by Arnold Palmer), Chateau
Whistler Golf Club (designed by Robert Trent
Jones Jr.) and Nicklaus North Golf Course
(designed by Jack Nicklaus) within Whistler
itself. Plus the Big Sky Golf and Country
Club (designed by Robert Cupp) 20 minutes
north of Whistler.
- Alpine sightseeing on the mountains. Take
the lifts up to a variety of marked trails.
- Hiking, from gentle walks around Whistler
to long trips into the alpine areas.
- Organized excursions for bear watching.
- Mountain biking around the gentle Valley
Trail system within Whistler or on gruelling
trails into the mountains.
|
 |
 |
- Water sports on the five lakes and numerous
rivers in the Whistler area. Swimming, windsurfing,
canoeing, kayaking....
- River rafting and jet boating.
- Tennis on the more than 25 free public courts
within Whistler plus several full-service
tennis clubs.
- Climbing and mountaineering.
- Bungee jumping, one of the highest in the
world.
|
And
of course in the summer the skier can ski on the
Blackcomb glacier.
