Whistler
Resort is Number One
The fame of Whistler as a resort, low interest
rates, the Official Community Plan's limits on
further growth and the 2010
Winter Olympics are putting pressure on real estate. These factors are likely to remain important
and reflect on Whistler real estate in the foreseeable
future.
Its ranking by major ski magazines
and other media as the top ski
resort in North America has greatly enhanced the Whistler
real estate market and Whistler property values. Here

Did you know...?
- Whistler is number one in North America for terrain.
It offers twelve magnificent bowls, three glaciers
and more than 200 marked trails: steep powder chutes,
challenging mogul fields, secluded tree skiing,
and groomed cruising runs.
- Whistler is number one in the world for high-speed
lifts. Whistler/Blackcomb may receive the most skier/boarder
visits in North America, but our lift lines continue
to be the shortest. Ski Magazine ranked
Whistler/Blackcomb Number One on the continent for
lift lines in its 1999 rankings.
- Whistler has the highest vertical and lowest altitude
of major ski resorts. Blackcomb Mountain rises one
vertical mile and Whistler's vertical is 5,020 feet,
the two greatest vertical rises in North America.
Whistler's base elevation starts at just over 2,000
feet and its peak elevation ends at 7,494 feet.
- Whistler has the longest ski season in Canada.
The winter season begins in mid November, and ends
on Blackcomb Mountain in April, while Whistler Mountain
remains open into June. Blackcomb's Horstman Glacier
provides a unique summer skiing and boarding experience
from the closure of Whistler Mountain until early
August.
- Whistler has great weather and the best snow. Located
in the Coast Mountain range of British Columbia,
Whistler/Blackcomb offers most reliable snow conditions,
with an average snowfall of 9 metres (30 feet) supplemented
by extensive state-of-the-art snowmaking systems.
For independent opinions of Whistler by individuals,
please check out Epinions.com and read the reviews
by visitors. The reviewers have awarded Whistler
five stars out of five....
Sounds great. But what if I am not a downhill skier
or snowboarder? Does Whistler
offer me anything?
